Billing Logs Just Got Sexier

The key to helping cities optimize their micromobility programs is having a validated understanding of what’s happening on the ground and tools to make the processes of governing easier and more efficient. We’re excited to announce a new feature within our product, City Conductor, that furthers this exact cause for cities.

Introducing The Self-Serve Billing Log

This new feature tallies up trip fees and enables finance managers to access billing information for each month and operator.

The Billing Log streamlines the invoicing process — particularly for programs that have variable trip pricing. The on-screen summaries enable staff to quickly confirm the total amount an operator owes for the selected month and type that number into their standard invoice format, all without needing to do the calculations manually. In cases where an operator has a billing dispute, a CSV can be downloaded from Conductor and used as an itemized receipt; given the data was provided by said operator, the CSV can help resolve any inconsistencies quickly.

Not only is the invoicing process now more efficient, but cities can also use the data to estimate and measure performance of trip-fee-based policies. For example, a city might have an equity-inspired policy that incentivizes operators to deploy more vehicles in underserved areas by offering reduced fees. By downloading the CSVs for each operator and calculating what percentage of total trips incurred a reduced fee, cities can see at a glance which operators are “equity-friendly”.

While the Billing Log was primarily designed with past events in mind, it can also be used to look forward in time. When vetting fee changes, a CSV can be downloaded and used as a model for predicting how the trip-fee revenue stream would change if the fees were raised or lowered. A user only needs to adjust numbers in the “Amount” column to get a financial forecast based on real micromobility usage.

This feature is a powerful addition to City Conductor’s main purpose: to give cities data they need for proactive decision-making to create strategies that help residents traverse the public right-of-way.
