Driving Change with Lacuna’s Woman-Led Executive Growth

We are excited to announce three key senior leadership hires who will be essential to directing Lacuna’s go-to-market strategy: Chief Marketing Officer Kate Wood, Vice President of Engineering Wei Sun, and Vice President of Sales Madeline Zhu.

I couldn’t be happier welcoming these three leaders to the team, each with their own unique blend of backgrounds in technology and transportation. Kate, Wei, and Madeline will be instrumental in bringing our products to market successfully — executing the company’s deliberate engineering and product strategy at the heart of Lacuna’s operations. The diversity of thought and experiences that Kate, Wei, and Madeline bring to Lacuna is exactly what we need to foster and scale mobility solutions that work for everyone.

Kate Wood, Chief Marketing Officer

Kate Wood is an experienced marketing executive who has previously served as a Chief Marketing Officer at Agio and Certified Tracking Solutions. She brings a hybrid of go-to-market product strategy, ABM-focused demand generation and sales development, brand identity, and content strategy to Lacuna, where she oversees the company’s holistic marketing, communications and public affairs efforts.

“I’m thrilled to join the Lacuna team at such a pivotal moment in the company’s evolution,” Wood said. “As we prepare for product roll-outs this year, we step into the next phase of our development as a new mobility product-focused company dedicated to helping cities achieve their environmental, equity and economic goals. It is both inspiring and humbling to be a part of the collective intelligence Lacuna embodies, as we strive to create and scale technology as a force for good in this world.”

Wei Sun, Vice President of Engineering

Wei Sun is an experienced technology executive who has served Okta, Apple, and Sun Microsystems/Oracle in various leadership roles. She brings distinctive experience across technology knowledge and product vision, now directing Lacuna’s engineering work as Vice President of Engineering.

“I’m energized to join Lacuna as we work to transform smart usage of cities’ resources with cloud, AI, and mobility for the public good. It is a remarkable moment in the company’s trajectory as we double down on our product focus to create a modern and scalable cloud-native technology platform that enables cities to use data to anticipate demand, intelligently conduct the use of streets and curbs, and adjust policy in real time with insights that show what works and what doesn’t.”

Madeline Zhu, Vice President of Sales

Madeline Zhu is an accomplished sales leader with deep experience in public sector transportation. She comes to Lacuna from Swiftly, where her work spanned sales operations, account management and new client acquisition in North America. In her new role, she leads Lacuna’s sales efforts to public sector entities across the country.

“I’m excited to join Lacuna as we begin scaling our sales efforts,” Zhu said. “Our products address the technology gap between commercial users and the cities that own and regulate the public right-of-way. It’s empowering and motivating to work with cities to realize their policy goals, aligning incentives and visibility to drive more equity and efficiency in our transportation systems across modes and jurisdictions. Having worked with cities and transit agencies around the world, I’ve realized powerful policy outcomes are often stymied by the technology available — and the ability to understand and act on the data they generate. I look forward to changing that with Lacuna.”

“Welcoming these three new leaders to our team catapults Lacuna to the forefront of what it means to successfully activate this concept of digital infrastructure through digital tools for cities and airports,” Lacuna COO Don Jowarski said, who oversees engineering, product development, global field operations and corporate development. “There is immense demand from mayors and local departments of transportation for technology solutions to better manage and govern the public right of way, especially when it comes to driving the outcomes Kate mentioned — environmental sustainability, social equity and city economics. The addition of Kate, Wei, and Madeline to our team will help us to better align our products with the needs of our customers in an ever-evolving, complex transportation ecosystem.”

This dynamic trio will play a key role in guiding Lacuna’s successful growth, communicating and developing the immense value that Lacuna’s products bring to municipalities. We’re privileged to have Kate, Wei, and Madeline’s clarity of thought at the strategic level, as well as the operational excellence they bring to execution. Together, they will help make 2022 a vital year for Lacuna.
